The first month of pregnancy

I had absolutely no clue of pregnancy until the 5th week like the majority of you out there. Aches and tiredness a plenty, loo breaks too often and hunger pangs throughout the day..However never knew these were signs of pregnancy. So it was an uncomfortable month in terms of health but kicked along thanks to my ignorance.

A gift to remember

Well, it has been over 5 months since my last post! I would say I have grown lazy over the past few years (shh..since my marriage); been taking life at its own pace rather...Anyway, got over my laziness for a few hours today and hence this post.

I have this cute small diary that was gifted by my husband when I was confirmed pregnant. More than the gesture, I treasure this beautiful words written by him

'To
The most wonderful person in my life
     My Dearest Wife
             On
   A very special day

"Pen your thoughts"'

Well there couldn't be a better gift from my husband as I love to etch some good memories on any piece of memorabilia I can find. I have these plain sheets of paper with some random musings, about me, from my friends at school, some random cartoons and caricatures of teachers and classmates drawn on my school notebooks, a collage made of photo prints with loads and loads of wishes penned down my team mates as I bid good bye to them, a scrapbook gift with pictures from some of the travels I have done with some good friends at work and many many more of such valuable collections.

Well, I had enough to pen down that day in the diary and it continued only for few days...laziness again bit on me!

Confirmed pregnant!

It was early May 2012 and my body had started showing up signs of pregnancy! However it took me a month to realise that I am pregnant. I believe all the first time preggies would fall in the came category as mine. Post the home test, it was time to consult a gynaecologist to get it confirmed medically. After an arduous search among compatriots in Pune, we found a Dr near to our place of stay. We booked an appointment for the following Saturday. Finally the wait for 4 days was finally over and we were at the doorstep of our doctor's clinic! My husband (like many other men) was feeling a bit shy (shy may not be apt - not sure how to put across his feeling at that time!). My name was called out and there was my husband asking me if he should also come inside! My instant response was a stare coupled with a pout. Once my facial muscles twitched, I told him subtly 'Ofcourse, Yes!'. He tagged along behind me as I entered the Doc's cabin.  Once settled, we got busy answering many questions.
Ahem, to be honest it was quiet embarrassing to answer some of the questions from the doctor. One of which I distinctly remember is ' Is this planned or unplanned?' Our honest answer was 'Unplanned'! The doc was shocked to hear our answer and her silent response suggested ' married for 2 years and unplanned?'. Well my silent reply to her unsaid question was 'yeah, we are married for 2 years however we have been staying separate'! True, we have been living in 2 different continents since our marriage as our work took us to the respective places. I am glad that the question and my response were restricted to our minds!
The outcomes of that consultation were satisfaction of having been confirmed pregnant (what a relief as we had already informed our parents post the home test!), payment of consultation fee and a chit which referred us to a nearby sonography test at 7th week! Hurray, we were off to our comfy home for a relaxed coversation with the lil bean in my tummy - the mom-child pampering talks! :-)
